Art director Darrick Rainey asked Brian Zick to illustrate this week's LA WEEKLY in the old airbrush style of the 60's and 70's. Brian's work has been digital for years.... does anyone still use the evil airbrush??
Fantastic! I asked Brian what it was that made the 70's airbrush look, have the look it did. What was he thinking at the time? And he couldn't remember. But he did it. He got back to it when he needed it. This piece is perfect. He's the only guy I know who could really nail it.
