A Colorful Lunch with Robert Wagt

Pat Lindgren & illustrator Robert Wagt

What do illustrator people talk about over lunch?
Their love of illustration of course! Pat mentioned how
much she likes the work of Jon Klassen and his pictures
in the children's book Extra Yarn. She explained that the
girl in the book adds color to her monochromatic town
by knitting everything in it. So what do we discover
after leaving the cafe? This yarn-bombed bench!

“To put a city in a book, to put the world on one sheet of paper -- maps are the most condensed humanized spaces of all...They make the landscape fit indoors, make us masters of sights we can't
see and spaces we can't cover.”
